HOW AN IDEA BECOMES A BOOK
An overview of the publishing industry and how to get involved, hosted at Print: A Bookstore
Co-sponsored by The Telling Room
Panelists: Maryam Abdullah (author and illustrator from The Telling Room), Julie Bliven (associate editor, Charlesbridge Publishing), Stephanie Heinz (children's department manager at Print: A Bookstore), Melissa Kim (author and editor at Islandport Press), Daniel Minter (illustrator) and Anne Sibley O'Brien (author and illustrator)

How does a book end up in your hands and—more importantly—how do you become a part of that process? You don’t have to wait until graduation to begin figuring out your future, our panel of experts are excited to show you what a career in publishing looks like and what you can do to get involved. Inspired by the Children’s Book Council’s Diversity Initiative, our panel will include professionals from every side of the industry, including editorial, publicity, illustration, bookselling, and some of our local young authors from the Telling Room. Come join the conversation, your voices matter.
